What is layaway?
Layaway lets a customer pay over time while you keep their items aside. On the Register, choose Keep items in store from Options. You need a real customer and products, and you choose a keep-until date and an optional first payment.
Does the stock stay reserved?
Yes. The lines of open layaways are reserved stock, and the storefront cart, order-request accept and the website sold-out badge all subtract them.
Can I put a service or gift card on layaway?
No. A layaway needs products, and services, gift cards, memberships and kits cannot be kept.
What happens when it is paid off?
A layaway paid in full by payments alone is closed with Hand over on the Register. One taken to the Register for the final charge becomes a sale at pickup.
How is layaway different from holding a ticket?
Holding a ticket parks an unpaid sale for a short while. Layaway keeps items aside for a named customer who pays over time, with payments recorded as deposits.
