What is the difference between a membership and a subscription?
A membership is a plan a customer joins, like a monthly club with a fee, a term and benefits. A subscription is one product that is picked up, shipped or delivered again and again, charged at the current catalog price minus any subscribe-and-save discount.
What happens when a member's card is declined?
Franpos retries automatically, after 1, 3 and 7 days by default, and the member keeps their benefits while it retries. If every retry fails the membership is suspended. A failed subscription payment is retried and then the subscription pauses.
Can one customer have a membership and a subscription?
Yes. They are separate, each with its own list, charge dates and failed-payment rules, and the customer's profile has a tab for each.
Can a pet hold a membership?
Yes. In Membership settings, Who holds a membership lets you choose the owner (the plan covers all their pets), each pet (every pet holds its own plan) or either when selling.
If I change a plan's price, do current members pay more?
Not automatically. Editing a plan's price changes new sales only. Use Update members' price to apply it to existing members at their next renewal or from a date you choose, or change one member's price on their own panel.
Does the customer need a card on file?
Yes. Both memberships and subscriptions charge the card the customer has on file, and a card used for a recurring payment is always saved so it can be charged again. A customer with no card cannot be started on a membership.
